The fox sparrow (''Passerella iliaca'') is a large American sparrow. It is the only member of the genus ''Passerella'', although some authors split the genus into four species (see below). ==Taxonomy== More specific information regarding plumage is available in the accounts for the various taxa. *''P. i. iliaca'' – red fox sparrow (Merrem, 1786), is the generally central and east coast taxon in the genus Passerella. This is the brightest colored group. *''P. i. unalaschcensis'' – sooty fox sparrow (Gmelin, JF, 1789), is the west coast taxon in the genus Passerella. It is browner and darker than the red fox sparrow. *''P. i. schistacea'' – slate-colored fox sparrow Baird, SF, 1858, is the Rocky Mountain taxon in the genus Passerella. It is a tiny-billed bird with a gray head and mantle, brown wings, brown breast streaks, and a russet tail. *''P. i. megarhyncha'' – thick-billed fox sparrow Baird, SF, 1858, is the Sierra Nevada taxon in the genus Passerella. This group features a particularly thick bill, as its name would suggest. 抄文引用元・出典: フリー百科事典『 ウィキペディア(Wikipedia)』 ■ウィキペディアで「fox sparrow」の詳細全文を読む スポンサード リンク
